HP Touchpad coming July 1st, AT&T cellular version later this summer

After months of waiting, the release date for the Touchpad was announced today -- July 1st in the United States, then in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany a few days later. Canada is poised to get it in mid-July, and it will be available in Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, and Singapore by the end of the year.

The tablet will be priced competitively at $499.99 for the 16GB model and $599.99 for the 32GB model, matching the iPad 2's pricing. AT&T will have a "connected" version later this summer, hopefully with both 3G/4G variants.

Now why would you want to get this tablet over the new iPad? Some may say because the OS isn't just a grid of icons, and that it has better multitasking and notifications. It also has twice as much RAM as the iPad 2, a better webcam, and a faster dual-core processor.

Battery life is still unannounced, which is concerning because battery life may make or break the device. Hopefully an announcement for the latest webOS smartphone -- the HP Pre 3 will come soon as well.

Here is a nice video taken a few days ago going over the features the touchpad, from wireless charging to showing off a few of the 3D games for it:
